I hear it all the time, ‘I just need to find (more) motivation’.

But here’s a question for you; Who do you know that is ALWAYS motivated? Who do you know that can always find the motivation to do the repetitive things? The things they don’t want to do? The things that are hard to do?

If you know this person have you asked them where their motivation comes from?
Have you ever considered that it’s NOT motivation?
What if it’s just a good habit they have created?

Habits

When we were born we didn’t wake up, get out of bed, get dressed and find food when we were hungry. Our caregivers did that for us.
In kindergarten we didn’t make our own lunch, get ourselves to school, come home and prepare our own dinner. Our caregivers did that for us.

ALL of these every day things we do unconsciously (or with a little bit of conscious help) we do because they are habits.
We wake up and get dressed, because we always wake up and get dressed for the day. We find food to eat because we always find food to eat when we are hungry.
There are 100’s of unconscious habits we have every day. Some days we aren’t well or something has changed and we are unable to continue to do the habit, but then when we get better or we adjust to the change, the habits slip right back in and start again.

We create new habits CONSTANTLY. Social media is a new habit…

Motivation

Motivation is a brilliant tool!!! BRILLIANT. So let’s use it. Let’s use motivation to create the new habits we want in life.

Do you want to exercise more?
Eat on a regular schedule?
Learn a new skill?
Drop an old habit?
Create a new life?

It all begins with creating new habits. Use the motivation to make a plan on how you are going to create this new habit. It doesn’t need to be a novel. But you do need to know what you want and how you are going to get there. Work out the steps and see what habits you need to create to reach each step. Then create those habits 1 or 2 at a time.

Creating habits

It’s said it takes 21 days to create a habit. 🤷‍♀️I think it depends on the habit, the motivation and truthfully if you REALLY want it, or if you think it will make others or society happy for you to have this new habit.
If YOU really want it, it’s not going to take 21 days.

Yes there will be push back. The push back is you! It’s you seeing how much you really want this? And a push back is simply that, a push. Doesn’t mean you’ve fallen over and you can’t get up. Humanity as a whole has been pushed back too many times to count, and yet here we are, we got up, and we continue to move forward. You can too.

Where do I sit in all this? Hypnotherapy helps remove the conscious argument ‘the voices’, of your friend, your family member, that stranger on the street, the person at work who is in your head telling you why bother? Give up, you are not worth it.
